Ring-11 sanitary level switch is designed for liquid level detection in hygienic process environments where cleanability, safety, and reliable switching are important. It works well in food production, beverage processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, cosmetics, and personal care applications. Because the switch uses a polished probe and tuning fork, it supports sanitary operation in systems that require smooth wetted surfaces.
The wetted surface finish reaches Ra < 0.5 ฮผm. This helps provide a smooth contact surface that is easier to clean and better suited for sanitary process lines. The polished tuning fork can also be supplied with different hygienic process connections, so users can match it to a wide range of sanitary systems and vessel designs.
Hygienic Tuning Fork Detection with Stable Switching
The switch works on the tuning fork resonance principle. Piezoelectric devices drive the fork into vibration and detect changes in its resonant frequency. When liquid touches the fork, the vibration frequency drops. The electronics detect this change and convert it into a switching signal. This method gives the device stable point level detection across many liquid applications.
The fork body is only 40 mm long, so the device fits pipelines, compact vessels, and narrow installation points. It can detect liquids with densities as low as 0.5 g/cmยณ. It also performs well in foam, bubbles, viscous media, adhesive liquids, and vibration. Therefore, it is a practical solution for sanitary processes that involve difficult liquid behavior.
Sanitary Level Switch for Safe and Flexible Process Integration
The device supports multiple hygienic process fittings, which makes installation more flexible in sanitary systems. It can also be configured for high-pressure conditions with an optional gas-tight leadthrough. For demanding thermal processes, it is available for applications with process temperatures up to 400ยฐC.
The switch is designed according to IEC 61508 and supports SIL2 and SIL3 applications. It also complies with HACCP and 3A requirements. In addition, it is available with intrinsically safe and flameproof certifications for use in hazardous process areas. These features make it suitable for plants that need both hygienic design and process safety.
Typical Applications
This sanitary tuning fork switch is widely used for point level detection in storage tanks, mixing tanks, stirring tanks, filter tanks, pipelines, and sanitary process vessels. It is especially useful in dairy processing, breweries, distilleries, liquid pharmaceutical production, cosmetic manufacturing, and other production systems where hygiene, contamination control, and reliable switching are critical.
