The JWrada®-20 radar sensor is a compact and economical 80GHz FMCW radar sensor featuring a G3/4 threaded connection and a maximum measuring range of 10 m. It is designed for water level measurement applications such as rivers, lakes, open channels, pumping stations, and wastewater tanks, and is also suitable for short-range liquid and solid level measurement in simple operating conditions.

 

The radar sensor supports HART/Modbus communication protocols and integrates a Bluetooth 5.0 module. Through the “JW Tools” APP, users can perform wireless commissioning, parameter configuration, and operating status monitoring on site. With cloud connectivity, the device also supports remote commissioning, remote monitoring, and remote upgrades, improving operational and maintenance efficiency.

JWrada®-20 Radar Sensor is designed for short-range level measurement applications that require compact size, reliable performance, and cost-effective operation. It is especially suitable for hydrology, water management, and general liquid monitoring. It can also be used for selected short-range bulk solid applications under simple operating conditions. Because it uses non-contact radar technology, the sensor helps reduce equipment wear and routine maintenance during long-term operation.

This model uses 80 GHz FMCW radar technology and provides a measuring range of up to 10 meters. It features a narrow 13° beam angle and measurement accuracy of up to ±1 mm, enabling stable target detection in compact tanks, open channels, and installations with limited space. Its G¾ threaded connection allows straightforward installation in rivers, lakes, pumping stations, wastewater tanks, and other utility systems.

Smart Communication and Stable Signal Performance

The JWrada®-20 Radar Sensor supports 4–20 mA/HART and RS485/Modbus communication options. It also integrates a Bluetooth 5.0 module, allowing users to perform wireless commissioning, parameter configuration, and operating-status monitoring through the “JW Tools” mobile application.

With cloud connectivity, the device supports remote commissioning, remote monitoring, and firmware upgrades. These functions help operators reduce on-site maintenance work, improve troubleshooting efficiency, and simplify the management of instruments installed across multiple locations.

In addition, the JWrada®-20 Radar Sensor uses Jiwei’s independently developed intelligent echo-learning and adaptive algorithms. It can recognize false echoes, separate multiple echoes, and dynamically track the actual target signal. The sensor automatically adapts to water-surface fluctuations, installation interference, and changing operating conditions. As a result, it maintains stable and accurate measurement output over time.

Compact Design for Easy Field Installation

The device features a compact structure with a G¾ threaded process connection and locking nut. Its small footprint makes it suitable for space-limited installations and enables direct threaded mounting without complicated installation accessories.

The integrated housing and antenna lens are made from lightweight nylon plastic with excellent weather resistance. With an IP66/IP68 protection rating, the instrument is suitable for outdoor monitoring sites and demanding water-management environments.

Its compact design, low maintenance requirements, and economical operation make the JWrada®-20 Radar Sensor an effective upgrade from traditional ultrasonic level meters. It is particularly suitable for projects that require dependable non-contact measurement without a large instrument footprint or complex commissioning procedures.

Typical Applications

JWrada®-20 Radar Sensor is widely used for river and open-channel water-level monitoring, wastewater and sewage treatment, reservoir and sluice-gate monitoring, pumping stations, and urban drainage and flood-warning systems.

It is especially useful in hydrology and water-management projects that require stable, accurate, and easy-to-operate level measurement. The sensor can also be applied to general liquid tanks and selected short-range bulk solid measurement applications under simple process conditions.
